Herb & Debbie Lamp

lampsWe served with Greater Europe Mission for 28 years in the countries of Serbia and Austria. In 1992, during the Balkan War, we returned to GEM’s home office, where Herb started the member care ministries of GEM.

In 1999, we returned to Europe to minister front-line to the needs of our missionaries through pastoral care systems and field training. Herb is presently in a Doctor of Ministry program at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and writing on missionary submission. He also has a graduate degree in the OT. Debbie is heavily involved in training missionary women in ministry leadership skills. We joined Barnabas International in July of 2009.

The Lamps have three grown children; Josiah married to Erin, Mari & Hannah.

Gene and Carol Burton

Currently Gene and Carol are serving the Lord in Greeley,CO.

Gene works as the Fields Division Director and also has taken on the additional responsibility of Missionary Development Division Director (interim). Gene works among Natives and Hispanics throughout North America.

Carol has quite a history here at Harvard. Carol started attending this church in 1st grade with her parents Will & Lorry Kenn and then became saved here at age 10. Ann Bristol was her 5th grade Sunday School teacher and she was always telling stories about the missionaries and the people they were telling about Christ. Carol felt her call to the mission field at age 15. Carol married Gene here at this church in 1972.

They have three children Tim, Joey married to Alethea & Becky.

Church Dynamics International

Bill and Cindy Martin

martinsBill is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and Cindy is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute. Bill served as pastor of Bethel Bible Church in Evergreen Park, IL for 9 years before we began cross-cultural ministry.

Since 1993 they have been doing these things in the formerly soviet Baltic countries of Latvia and Estonia, as well as in Finland and the UK. Recently Bill & Cindy have expanded their ministry to include the Native American people of the southwest, particularly the Navajo.

Bill & Cindy have ministered as Bible school and seminary teachers in Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and have assisted local churches in the UK. Bill & Cindy will be teaching at the Indian Bible college in Flagstaff, AZ. IBC’s goal is to teach Native Americans to reach Native Americans. They are returning to Latvia in September.

Bill & Cindy have four children, Ben, Beth, DeeAnna & Hannah.

Focus Ministries

Paula Silva

Paula SilvaPaula Silva is president and co-founder of FOCUS Ministries, Inc, FOCUS Ministries is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides a safe place for teens, women, and families who experience domestic violence and abusive relationships to find hope and healing in Jesus Christ. Support groups, counseling, and educational material are services that are offered. Training for support group leaders and domestic violence seminars are another aspect of the ministry.

Paula is a member here at Harvard Avenue. She has three children, John, Amy, Charity (All are married) and six grand- children: Melissa, Jacob, Emily, Mirai, Kaden, & Keilia.

She is coauthor of Violence Among Us: Ministry to Families in Crisis, TEEN FOCUS: Relationships Smarts and other educational material.


Paul & Kathy Baum

BaumsPaul & Kathy Baum’s ministry is to share Christ and live among Turkish Muslims in Germany. There are more Muslims in their “state”, their “county” and their town than anywhere else in Germany.

The Baum’s have three children and 2 grandchildren. Paul & Kathy just celebrated 30 years of marriage.



Ernest & Donna Manges

mangesErnie & Donna Manges began their missionary service in 1987 in the Philippines with ReachGlobal, the international mission of the EFCA.

Presently, in addition to his ministry of training pastors at a seminary in the Philippines, Ernie leads the team which trains all new missionary candidates for EFCA ReachGlobal worldwide.

In the past four years Ernie and his team have trained more than 100 adult missionaries now serving in 24 nations. He also provides learning upgrades to missionaries on the field and travels to China, Indonesia, and other places to train local church leaders and evangelists. Ernie & Donna have been missionary partners with Harvard Ave. since they first went to the Philippines in 1987. They have three children, all presently in college: Jill, Lauren & Kyle.


Charlie & Mary Kay

KaysChurch Planting Movements in Europe/N. Africa in France since 1994 Conrad & Mary are working as catalysts to church planting movements in Europe. They have worked in church planting in Lille, Paris and Lyon regions of France. They met as part of a short-term team ministry in Lille in the ‘80‘s and later married in Chicago. They returned to work in the Paris during the ’90’s and from 2000 they worked in the Rhone-Alpes.

Since 2009 they have been in the US researching muslim ministry approaches to use in Europe.  In 2011 this new CPM work focuses on urban and immigrant populations to facilitate a rapid and multiplicative increase of indigenous churches planting churches within this people group and population. They’re developing long term ministry to immigrants in Europe/N. Africa.

The Kay’s have 5 children.
